research (Phase 2)

Methods

I experimented with a variety of different methods such as business analysis, competitive analysis, user personas, prototyping, and testing.

Approach

I interviewed both users that were just beginning their fitness journey as well as avid fitness enthusiasts.

Market Research

Apple Fitness

It has a nice UI but its very basic in the sense that it just tracks your fitness levels and lacks many other essential features

My Fitness Pal

Very nice onboarding experience but Navigating through the app is very confusing.

Home Workout

Great use of workout tutorial but it doesn't use real life videos and also lacks variety of training methods and sports.

Interviews

I interviewed 5 different people that varied in levels of health and fitness in order to get a broad understanding of the user pain points.

The value from what we learned

- They find it difficult to be consistent with their diets.

- People lack the time and money to cook fresh meals every single day

- Working out seems too intimidating and people aren't sure where to start.

- People don't realize how important sleep is and how it affects every part of your life.

- Most people don't sleep enough so they don't recover from workouts and therefor lack energy throughout their day.

Process (Phase 2)

MVP Roadmap

Using a variety of mainly free tools, I built out a roadmap that uses AI and automation tools to deliver a personalized user experience. I also included multiple backups of backups for the users information using different databases to ensure data protection.

Design (Phase 3)

Iterations and Improvements

Before settling down and committing to a final design, I brainstormed several different versions of the main pages and did some usability test/interviews to see if they are viable options. I then went back and improved the designs based on the data I gathered.

1. More Info at A Glance

- We changed the home screen to include more important information at a quick glance.
- We also Introduced more visuals such as a progress bar and charts

2. Emphasis On Just One

- Rather then listing out each workout in a column, theres an emphasis on the current workout along with a more intuitive interface

3. A More Organized Bio

- The bio was first inspired by other social medias but than changed showcase more relevant health information at the forefront.
- Progress photos are broken up into weekly blocks rather then individual photos for better organization.

1. Streamlined Onboarding

- After some user feedback, we realized that the onboarding process plays a huge role in whether or not a user decides to sign up so making it as easy as possible will ensure and increase in user retention.

2. Intuitive Homescreen

- Providing more essential information at the forefront rather. then having to press multiple buttons and navigate through the app to find the info

3. Messages to Video

At first, our intention was to include only a messaging feature. However, we later realized that video calls provide doctors with a richer quantity and quality of information."

Low Fidelity Wireframes

Minimum Viable product (MVP)

Onboarding + Home

Placed a large emphasis on a seamless onboarding and signup process to reduce churn.

Easy and accessible guide that walks you through the exercises for that workout.

Profiles + Messaging

- Seller profiles act as a bio section and provides more insights on the sellers story, menu, reviews and even short form video highlight reels to help advertise and market their business.

Personal Profile Flow

- Each user has a profile thats meant to help encourage interaction between buyers and sellers. Through the use of short form videos and text reviews, users can interact with each other through various ways.

Reflection (Phase 4)

01. Making fact/research based design decisions

Extensive research and being able to make decisions based on facts plays a huge role in whether or not a project is successful.

02. Talking to users early and often

Talking to users and consistently receiving valuable feedback is the key to building something that users actually need and are going to use consistently

03. Revise screens to create more continuity

Interconnect the features to make the experience more cohesive and less segregated

Questions to contemplate

- Can we involve wearable smart technology to include more data?.

- How can we condense some of the categories so the amount of information isn't overbearing?

- How to add a paid service so that professionals can also be compensated for their time and expertise ?
